WHAT THE HECK IS THIRD THURSDAY?

Third Thursday is a free-to-attend casual community art crawl taking place every-other-month. Businesses located in South Main Village in Fort Worth's Near Southside Cultural District open their doors to local artists to display their work. Some artists are invited to exhibit their work for extended periods of time before and/or after the Third Thursday event date, while others may opt for one-day showings. Community members are invited to pop in and out of participating Third Thursday venues from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on event day.

HOW IT WORKS

Third Thursday is a volunteer-effort organized by Laleh Rezaie, owner of South Barber Shop, and promoted by the staff at Near Southside, Inc. and all participating businesses. Artists and businesses partner in good-faith, to help drive foot traffic and sales opportunities for each other.  Artists are requested (and sometimes required, depending on the venue preference) to be in attendance to greet the public, discuss their work, and benefit from event sales and exposure. Most venues offer to host artists with no request for compensation or revenue-share. However, some venues are formal galleries and may request a partnership structure that relies on sales commission or percentages. All financial arrangements are handled directly between the venue and the artist. Third Thursday does not involve itself, nor take any responsibility, for these discussions.

WHAT IS A VENUE?

A “venue” is a South Main Village business that hosts an artist during Third Thursday. Participation is free for businesses. Venues select their own artists and are encouraged to rotate participants to keep programming fresh. Artists are welcome to reach out directly to businesses to express interest. Your business must be located in the Near Southside's South Main Village to participate as a venue. See the map below for questions about the boundaries.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE AS AN ARTIST:

Complete the application to be included in the Third Thursday Artist Database, which venues review when selecting artists. Submission does not guarantee participation. Due to limited venue space and strong artist interest, not all applicants will be selected for each event. Artists are encouraged to conduct their own outreach to venues to increase their chances of being hosted. Your personal outreach to new venues each month is helpful to your chances of being selected by a venue.

We do not guarantee that you will be selected by a venue; only that your information as an interested artist is made available to participating venues for their review.
